Musical

It wasn't a long time ago when my friend, who is in the Film and Media course in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, sent me this picture asking for publicity on his school project- He was to do(within a group, of course) a video of a musical of their own: the casting, the sound track, the footage; everything. And of course they weren't allowed to cameo in their own movie. Dancing and acting are part of my interests and this would definitely be an experience I'd never forget, however, doing such as that before close friends and strangers would be stumping and I doubt I had the confidence to pull that off well, so I settled for the 'back-up' dancers instead.

The venue where they decided to shoot the scene I will be in was the Punggol Waterway Park.
My friend and I decided on meeting beforehand at Chua Chu Kang and head to Woodlands where a taxi will bring us to the venue at 6:45 in the morning.
I woke up a little later than 5 on just a few hours' sleep to prepare and head out to the meeting place.
And the problem was that my friend lost his phone and had absolutely no way of contacting me so the worst scenario that could happen did happen- there wasn't a sight of him for 2 hours. And this wasn't the first time he was late after he lost his phone. How nerve-wrecking.
His team even went onto the taxi and left us behind. He eventually called with his father's phone to say that he has overslept and his father would drive the two of us to the venue instead.

and here's a picture of my friend which he has no idea that I'd be posting

I met with the team at a neighbourhood block with the wind blowing away all of the warmth our bodies saved up and they were a nice bunch of people. The main cast were all from Singapore Poly(which would be where I ended up in if not for NAFA)

I made new friends but I probably won't get to see them again, if not soon
Cheryl says hi!

I went with the crew so I had nothing to do for hours until they shoot the scene I will be in so I sat down and drew until my friend was ordered to buy food for them so I went with him(and he owes me ice cream anyway for helping him out)

We walked to the venue and I felt like we walked into another dimension as the weather turned scorching hot and unbearable. They explained to me that the scene they're going to shoot needed a 'flower girl' and the girl who was supposed to come early didn't make it so I was to take her place. Guess I wasn't going to be just a back-up dancer after all.

Here's me standing awkwardly as they adjust the angles and lighting for the shoot

Basically I had to hand the dejected main character(the guy at the left) a rose and point to the 'BE HAPPY' board hanging from my neck with a big smile.

They said I did it well so yay

Next was a scene where all the dancers had to run to the main character and surround him with cheers and jump around after he successfully got the female lead's number. We had to retake it thrice and it was exhausting from all the jumping, running from the hill and screaming.

The final scene consisted of the dancers greeting the main character as he walks down a path while we follow around him and dance through a bridge(which they later altered and was nothing more than just marching which was pretty disappointing)
The wait for their set up were long and intolerable as we were all baked under the sunlight with no shade and wind. Of all days, I had to forget to apply sunscreen and I got the worst sun burn I've ever had. My nose was completely red which I found pretty amusing somehow.

There weren't any shots of that so here are some BTS from our long wait for the set up

I met up with my friend a few days after that and he said that his whole team "had a crush on me" which was pretty funny as most of them are girls, but it seems that I've made a good impression so all's well!
Oh and i did get my ice cream, although it was the usual vanilla cone from MacDonald's.
